White cabinets and black countertops were in style when Curt and Meghan had their home built. Fast forward 11 years, and their family had grown, and their use of the space had evolved. A friend of theirs who works in interior design invited us to join the conversation and worked with them to handle the design.
The 48″ double-oven range really helped drive the cabinet design, as baking is a big part of how they use their kitchen. The curved vent hood adds a touch of stateliness. The sea green/sage custom-built cabinets pair wonderfully with the Citrine quartz to create a very open and airy feel in the space.
We paired the under-cabinet lighting with the backsplash outlets so that the matching quartz backsplash has a seamless appearance. The microwave drawer was chosen to help maintain the overall open feel—even at the countertop level.
A small in-cabinet pull-out coffee bar provides easy access for a quick cup of coffee while making it easy to keep the area tidy by closing the doors.
Interestingly, we were able to find flooring that matched the finish of the adjacent living room. The plank sizes were slightly different, so the flooring was turned 90 degrees to help blend the variation.
