Built by Karen’s aunt in the 1960s, their home featured an upstairs laundry room. The space was only slightly wider than needed for the washer and dryer to sit side by side, leaving little room for anything beyond basic washing and drying. To make the laundry room more functional, we incorporated an adjacent closet to expand the space.
We added built-in cabinets and a sink, while the front-load washer and dryer create a more ergonomic experience when transferring loads. The new countertop offers ample workspace above.
The black and cream floral wallpaper pairs wonderfully with the cabinet color, while also complementing the checkerboard flooring and leather-finished granite countertops. The room turned out so elegant that it has been affectionately named “Lavanderia”—Italian for laundry room.
